In show business, stars go on tour to thrill their loyal fans and gain new ones. BITZER and wholesaler ECR Italy, the Refrigeration Division of Beijer Ref Italy, have now applied this principle to the highly efficient ECOSTAR condensing unit and the Italian market for refrigeration and air-conditioning technology: with a joint roadshow in October, they introduced the ECOSTAR to existing and potential customers in nine cities throughout Italy.
The eye-catching truck was transformed into a mobile showroom for the tour, which lasted from 10 to 26 October 2017 and included stops in Padua, Milan, Brescia, Camaiore (Lucca), Calenzano (Florence), in Rome, Cagliari, Sassari and in Turin. In addition to the ECOSTAR and the intelligent VARIPACK frequency inverter for BITZER reciprocating compressors, there was also a high-tech simulator on board, allowing the team to simulate real operating conditions for the condensing unit. Employees of BITZER Germany and Italy as well as ECR Italy answered visitors’ questions and explained the products in detail.

‘It was the first roadshow we’ve organised and we’re very satisfied with the response. 700 curious people from 500 companies visited our truck, including service providers for refrigeration, installers, smaller OEMs and even end customers such as supermarket chains,’ jubilates Andrea Zocche, Managing Director of BITZER Italia. Visitors were able to converse with BITZER experts directly, which proved to be a real highlight. Conversely, the roadshow also gave BITZER the opportunity to obtain lots of feedback and suggestions from the Italian market in a brief period of time.
Fabio Fogliani, Managing Director of ECR Italy, is also enthusiastic: ‘Even the prelude to our joint tour was promising. Right at the beginning, we were able to sell the first ECOSTAR to a customer who visited us at the roadshow. And many other potential customers on the route showed great interest in this innovative product. Therefore, we are optimistic that further orders will follow in the wake of this presentation.’ For the ECR Italy team, the roadshow was an exciting experience with many new impressions and a great opportunity to talk directly to customers about BITZER and its products.

‘The remarkable level of innovation of the ECOSTAR condensing units has allowed us to offer advanced technologies to our customers with the goal to obtain very high energy efficiency compared to the traditional market’, says Christian Battisti, owner of Rec Frigo Srl.
Roberto Panighel, company owner Frigo Line Srl, knows the product’s benefits: ‘I especially appreciate the ECOSTAR’s flexibility which allows the use of HFC or HFO refrigerants. And the proven energy saving of 25 percent significantly lowers ongoing operating costs.’ His colleague Maurizio Peruzza, also company owner, puts emphasis on the monitoring possibilities made possible by the BITZER BEST software: ‘With this tool, the ECOSTAR condensing units can be easily and safely parameterised. It additionally provides an overview on the operating status of the system including a history of startup, trouble shooting and maintenance.’
The new ECOSTAR LHV5E and LHV7E series, which BITZER launched in 2017, were especially popular among visitors. The air-cooled and particularly energy-efficient condensing unit series clearly exceed the regulations outlined in the EU Ecodesign Directive and thus offer users long-term planning security. The Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) requirements will be much more stringent as of July 2018. Another advantage of the ECOSTAR condensing units is that their outstanding energy efficiency quickly pays for itself in the face of rising electricity prices. Low noise and reliable operation, simple installation, ease of use and low maintenance are other attractive features of the units. ECR Italy and BITZER have been collaborating since 2000 and have already developed many refrigeration and air-conditioning solutions together. The Italian company also took part in the BITZER EMEA Distribution Conference in Leipzig in September, where it received the BITZER EMEA Distributor of the Year 2017 award.
