In February 2018, BITZER won over the jury of experts at ACREX India, the most important trade fair for refrigeration and air-conditioning technology in South Asia, with two innovative compressor series. In the Green Products category, the OS.A95 screw compressors were named the most climate-friendly products. The ECOLINE reciprocating compressors with IQ modules also received an award in the Innovation category.
Environmentally friendly and powerful – OS.A95
With OS.A95 screw compressors, BITZER offers a powerful solution with a displacement of up to 1,015 m3/h at 50 Hz for environmentally friendly ammonia applications, as the natural refrigerant has no global warming potential (GWP 0) and doesn’t damage the ozone layer. The high cooling capacity, the automatic Vi adjustment and the further developed rotor profiles allow users to efficiently operate the OS.A95 screw compressors in a whole host of different applications, including air-conditioning systems, low and medium temperature applications, and heat pumps. Thanks to the integrated stepless slider control with position recognition, the compressor optimally adapts its capacity in line with individual system requirements. The IQ module integrated into the compressor controls the capacity in line with the specifications of the superior system controller.
In addition to conventional supermarket applications, the ECOLINE reciprocating compressors are also designed for many other applications and, thanks to the intelligent IQ module, offer superior energy efficiency in full and part-load operation. In combination with the VARISTEP mechanical capacity control, users are able to infinitely adjust capacity between 10 and 100 per cent – a true alternative to using frequency inverters. Another key benefit of the overall series is the fact that users have unrivalled freedom when it comes to selecting the refrigerant. BITZER receives the Deutscher Kältepreis award for innovations
The third place of the 2018 Deutscher Kältepreis award in the category ‘Refrigeration or air-conditioning innovations’ goes to BITZER. In Berlin on 7 May, the compressor specialist received the award for its intelligent ECOLINE+ reciprocating compressors with state-of-the-art line-start permanent-magnet motor, designed for transcritical CO2 applications. Dr. Armin Walz, Head of Application Engineering, and Andreas Riesch, Head of Sales Germany and Switzerland, accepted the award in the name of BITZER, which was presented in its sixth year. With the award, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety acknowledges refrigeration technology innovations which increase energy efficiency and thus play an important role in climate protection.

ECOLINE+ reciprocating compressors boast 14 per cent higher annual performance figures (SEPR) and lower operating costs. They’re designed for supermarket applications and available with 4- and 6-cylinders. The overall series features optimised motor technology which takes full advantage of the high motor efficiency and the low heat input of the CO2 refrigerant.
Refrigeration Product of the Year
In January 2018, BITZER won also the ACR News Award. The innovative ECOLINE+ reciprocating compressor series was awarded Refrigeration Product of the Year.
