Low global warming potential (GWP), high energy efficiency and only moderate flammability – the refrigerants of the new A2L safety class have many benefits for system operators. BITZER has thus further developed its scroll compressors and approved nearly the entire ORBIT product range for serial production for the use with R452B, R454B and R32. The ORBIT 6 and 8 scroll compressors as well as the ORBIT+ models equipped with modern line start permanent magnet motors are certified.

That makes BITZER one of the first manufacturers to approve scroll compressors with displacements between 20 and 80 m3/h for use with the new A2L refrigerants. The refrigeration and air conditioning specialist is thus demonstrating once again that it drives industry innovations with its highly efficient, intelligent and environmentally friendly solutions. The next series that BITZER will approve for A2L refrigerants is its ORBIT FIT compressors with economiser technology, which are currently undergoing the approval process.
Transparency benefits users
The name plate provides users with all the necessary information about whether their compressor is suitable for the new refrigerants. If the letter ‘L’ occupies the tenth position in the nomenclature, the product is suitable for A2L and A1 refrigerants.
To offer system operators the highest flexibility possible when choosing the compressor, the BITZER portfolio will still feature scroll compressor solutions for A1 refrigerants. These contain the letter ‘A’ in the nomenclature on the name plate and are not suitable for A2L applications.
BITZER ORBIT scroll compressors: powerful and versatile
The eleven ORBIT compressor models are designed for air conditioning systems and heat pumps and offer displacements between 20 and 80 m3/h (50 Hz). Their strengths include a wide application envelope, making them the best solution for A/C, Heat Pump and Process Cooling applications. All ORBIT compressors can also be operated at a fixed speed or using an external frequency inverter with variable speed (35 to 75 Hz). ORBIT scroll compressors can be combined to form tandem and trio compounds and thus offer customers hundreds of potential combinations. The scroll compressors also provide exceptional energy efficiency even in the most demanding environments and require less space thanks to their compact dimensions. Because the overall dimensions of the compressors stay the same, existing systems can be retrofitted with A2L-approved ORBIT compressors easily. This ensures maximum flexibility and highest efficiency for the customer.
Due to the global success of the scroll compressor models and a desire to supply the Asian market more quickly, BITZER has commissioned another manufacturing site for this compressor type in Beijing, China.
