The ECOSTAR (LHV7E/4NE-14.F3Y) condensing units stand side by side at Pulmuone Danone in Muju, South Korea. Eight condensing units maintain an optimal temperature for dairy products in an area 800 square metres in size. Two ECOSTAR units cool 270 square metres of storage space to 10°C and six other condensing units cool 530 square metres to 4°C. Pulmuone, one of the leading food manufacturers in Korea, and Danone, the world’s leading manufacturer of curdled milk products, entered into a joint venture in June 2017 in order to manufacture dairy products together. Both demand and production volumes have been growing ever since. Reliable cooling is indispensable in order to ensure that the products remain fresh. ECOSTAR condensing units from BITZER are an exceptionally efficient and reliable solution.
‘We chose the ECOSTAR series due to its outstanding characteristics. We were particularly impressed by the efficient compressor and fan speed control, the ease of use and the data logger for operating data evaluation.’

Strong arguments in favour of BITZER
Pulmuone Danone chose the ECOSTAR series from BITZER due to its outstanding performance data. Eight condensing units have been in operation since March 2018. The ECOLINE VARISPEED compressors operate with the refrigerant R134a. ‘We chose the ECOSTAR series due to its outstanding characteristics. We were particularly impressed by the efficient compressor and fan speed control, the ease of use and the data logger for operating data evaluation’, says Ko Sang Kon, Technical Manager at Pulmuone Danone. BITZER has also optimised the LHV5E and LHV7E models in accordance with the F-gas Regulation and the European Union’s Ecodesign Directive, and approved them for HFO/HFO blends. This ensures that they are future-proof.

‘We are very proud of this project. Especially that our ECOSTAR condensing units ensure that the dairy products of Pulmuone Danone retain the necessary freshness.’
Byun Jong Hwan
Managing Director at BITZER Korea
A thoroughly positive experience
Pulmuone Danone’s conclusion after a few months of operation is extremely positive: ‘With the variable speed control of the compressor, we can maintain a stable temperature level despite varying cooling requirements. This is particularly important in order to prevent our food products from spoiling. We have also been able to lower our electricity costs.’ Ko Sang Kon cites the low levels of noise and vibration as additional advantages. ‘The operating concept with BEST software is highly user-friendly. Potential faults are identified in good time, operating data is logged and even remote access is simple’, says Ko Sang Kon. BITZER Korea is also happy about the successful project: ‘We are very proud of this project. Especially that our ECOSTAR condensing units ensure that the dairy products of Pulmuone Danone retain the necessary freshness’, says Byun Jong Hwan, Managing Director at BITZER Korea.
